PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Associate Instructor Indiana University Aug 2016 – Present
Associate Instructor and grader for undergraduate course: CSCI B461- Database Concepts- an intermediate level
course that focuses on database design, query languages and processing.
Software Lab Engineering Intern Shutterfly June 2016 – Aug 2016
Built a RESTful service-based image matcher that detects and rectifies shipping errors of Shutterfly photo-gift products
with a correction accuracy of 95%.
Designed a custom image matching algorithm that uses AKAZE features to produce matches of higher accuracy.
Developed an intricate Javascript wrapper for interfacing webcams with the web based user interface for the service.
Senior Applications Engineer Oracle Corporation June 2011 - July 2015
Designed and implemented a J2EE based data coexistence web application: File Based Loader, for legacy Human
Capital Management ERP customers to migrate large amounts of HCM data into Oracle Fusion HCM.
Identified and solved various performance bottlenecks associated with data validation modules in File Based Loader,
improving the application performance by 35%.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Science Gateway [Java, REST, MySQL, HTML5, CSS, Spring Framework, Hibernate] Spring 2016
Engineered a full stack scientific gateway web application for Apache Airavata which interfaces scientists and
supercomputers thereby enabling them to run computationally expensive tasks on supercomputing clusters.
Developed and exposed RESTful services to submit, cancel and monitor jobs on the supercomputing cluster.
Designed a robust web interface with HTML5 that caters to all the job management functionalities and interfaces the
REST services provided in the backend.
Implemented a job scheduling system for handling submitted jobs using BASH scripts.
Search Engine [Java, Apache Hadoop, Apache HBase] Spring 2016
Built a simple search engine using distributed data frameworks that fetches webpages based on the search key.
Implemented the PageRank algorithm using Apache Hadoop and persisted PageRank data on HBase tables.
Optimized the search engine performance by building an inverted index of word frequencies.
File system and Network Implementation using BeagleBone Black [C,XINU] Fall 2015
Implemented an in-memory UNIX style file system for the XINU Operating System with features to mount the file system
as well as create, open, read, write, seek and close files.
Developed a UDP based chat utility which facilitates two-way communication between the XINU powered device and
other devices on the network.
Adaptive Query Processing [Java, MySQL] Fall 2015
Analyzed multiple research papers on Adaptive Query Processing techniques which uses runtime feedback to tune
database query processing for better response time and efficient CPU utilization.
Identified deficiencies in this model and compared the features of the various query processing techniques.
LEADERSHIP AND INVOLVEMENT
Conducted a BASH scripting workshop for high school students over the course of undergraduate studies.
Organizes member meetings and technical sessions in the capacity as Secretary of ASIST- Indiana Chapter 2016.
