Implemented front-end framework with Vert.x and back end system with HBase and MySQL.
Loaded 1TB Twitter dataset into database using the extract, transform and load (ETL) process in data
warehousing.
Dec.2014 Built Recommendation System for Yelp, Carnegie Mellon University.
Used 1GB of Yelp reviews as the dataset and developed a Collaborative Filtering Algorithm (Item-Based)
to recommend suitable restaurants to customers.
Linearly blended the Item-Based CF Algorithm with the Alternating Least Square Algorithm, User-Based
Nearest Neighbor Algorithm to achieve a better result: Root Mean Square Error is 1.2489 (A Level).
Nov.2014 Built Input Text Predictor based on N-Gram Generation, Carnegie Mellon University.
Used MapReduce to generate a list of n-grams from Project Gutenberg.
Constructed the statistical language model for all words and phrases in the n-grams counts; Read the
input file from HDFS and inserted the data into HBase; Implemented the function of predicting the word
the user will use.
