Pediatric Capstone – Provena St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee, IL
• Worked with a preceptor in providing care for multiple patients on pediatric unit.
• Administered oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intravenous medications.
• Performed admission assessments, started and discontinued IVs, performed nasal and oral
suctioning, provided patient and parent education and emotional support, and performed discharges.
Obstetric Capstone– Provena St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee, IL
• Worked under a nursing preceptor providing care for various patients on an obstetric unit, including
neonatal patients, laboring mothers and post-partum patients.
• Obtained intravenous access and administered fluids and medications though IV lines.
• Hooked patients up to fetal monitoring systems and contraction monitors for laboring patients and
non-stress tests.
• Observed caesarian section deliveries and assisted in charting patient information during the surgical
procedure.

Post Anesthesia Care Unit– Provena St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee, IL
• Assisted in hooking patients up to monitoring, obtaining vital signs, measuring intake and output,
providing reassurance to patients recovering from anesthesia, and observed a nerve block procedure
Pediatrics – Provena St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Joliet, IL
• Performed assessments and direct patient care for children with various illnesses such as:
pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, mononucleosis, gastroenteritis, RSV, seizure disorders, and
cholicystitis
• Worked with a patient with a chest tube and Jackson Pratt drainage system, provided support and
medication education to a patient admitted for a drug overdose, administered IV and oral
medications and discontinued IVs
• Followed a Registered Nurse in the pediatric emergency room and assisted in obtaining vitals and
