2. Debt Management Plan
A debt management plan, or DMP as it is
sometimes known, is an informal
arrangement between you and the people
that you owe money to. The plan aims to
freeze interest rates and charges, and
lower your monthly debt repayments to a
more manageable level, all without the
need for further credit.

3. IVA
An IVA is also known as an Individual
Voluntary Arrangement and is a formal
alternative to a debt management plan.
The plan usually lasts for around five
years and once you’re signed up, any
interest and charges that you are incurring
should stop. On completion of the IVA
any outstanding debts are wiped clear and
you are deemed debt free.

4. Debt Consolidation Loan
A debt consolidation loan is designed to
repay all of your existing debts in one go,
leaving you to make only one manageable
monthly repayment. This allows you to
regain control of your finances and stop
those annoying calls from existing
creditors.

5. Trust Deed
A Trust Deed is only available to Scottish
residents but offers an alternative to
Bankruptcy or Sequestration. It is a legally
binding agreement which allows you to
reduce your debts and existing payments
with creditors through the use of a third
party, known as a trustee.
