This document defines and provides examples of different types of finite verbs: main verbs, helping verbs, and linking verbs. Main verbs show the action or state of being of the subject. Helping verbs add grammatical information like tense to the main verb. Linking verbs describe the subject rather than showing an action. Examples of each verb type are given.
