• History
• What is Li-fi?
• How Li-Fi works?
• Real Time Usage of Li-Fi
• Wi-Fi vs Li-Fi
• Applications

3. • In simple terms, Li-Fi can be thought of as a light-based
Wi-Fi.
• That is, it uses light instead of radio waves to transmit
information.
• Li-Fi would use transceiver-fitted LED lamps that can
light a room as well as transmit and receive information.
4. • The technology truly began during
the 1990’s in countries like Germany ,
Korea and Japan where they
discovered LED’s could be retrofitted
to send information. Harald Hass
continues to wow the world with the
potential to use light for
communication.
• He demonstrated it in the year 2012
5. WHAT IS LI-FI ?
• Li-Fi is a transmission of data
through illumination, i.e sending
data through a LED light bulb
that varies in intensity faster
than human eye can follow.
• Li-Fi –LIGHT FIDEALITY
6. How Li-Fi works:
• The Li-Fi technology light
from LEDs as a medium to
deliver networked mobile,high-
speed communication in a
similar manner of Wi-Fi.
• Li-Fi(VLC) work by switching
bulbs on and off within
nanoseconds,which is too quick
to be noticed by the human eye
and achieve 70mb/s.
8. WI-FI VS LI-FI:
• Li-Fi can be thought of as a light
based Wi-Fi i.e, it uses light instead
of radio waves transmit information.
• Instead of Wi-Fi modems, Li-Fi
would use transceiver – fitted LED
lamps that can light a room as well
as transmit and receive information.
• Li-Fi is more secure than Wi-Fi.
9. • Hospitals
• Airlines
• On ocean bed
• Street lamps
• Traffic lights
• Intrinsically safe environment
10. • Solve insufficiency of radio frequency
• Speed
• Secure
• Low cost
• Safe to human
• Multi user communication
ADVANTAGES:
11. • The possibilities are numerous and can be explored further.
• This technology in which LED is working like a Wi-Fi
hotspot to transmit wireless data moves toward the cleaner,
GREENER, safer(from radio waves) and brighter future.
