Handloom Industry Takes Centre Stage(Handloom Revival)
1. Handloom Industry Takes Centre Stage (Handloom Revival)
In last one year, there's hardly any fashion event that didn't boast of promoting Indian handicraft and textile.
While the Banarasi has become the face of the handloom revival movement, other Desi fabrics too are getting
greater prominence in fashion than even before. And the efforts have trickled down from the ramp to streets.
The push given to native fabrics on the ramp and the increase in designer-government interactions made
handloom fabrics trend not with just the label wearing crowd, but with the masses too. Grandma's saris began
to be brought out from remote corners of the closet to be flaunted on Facebook. Desi has becoming cool every
year; as it has been spotted at every fashion week.
