Creationism is the religious belief that the universe and living organisms originate from specific acts of divine creation, as in the biblical account, rather than by natural processes such as evolution. It holds that life and the universe were supernaturally created by a deity. Supporters of creationism believe that evolution cannot account for the complexity of life and instead support the view that God created Earth and life over the course of a few days, as described symbolically in the Book of Genesis.
