2. Information of basketball
• Basketball was invented by James Naismith in Springfield.
• The year was 1891, and as the story goes, Naismith was
asked to come up with an indoor game that offered fewer
injuries than classic American gridiron football. He came up
with a 9-on-9 game that involved shooting a ball into a
peach basket.
• For that first game of basketball in 1891, Naismith used as
goals two half-bushel peach baskets, which gave the
sport its name.
3. Basketball
• Basketball is a game played between two teams of
five players each on a rectangular court, usually
indoors. Each team tries to score by tossing the ball
through the opponent's goal, an elevated
horizontal hoop and net called a basket.
4. Important Skills of the Game
Basketball skills can be broken down into two primary
categories:
• Offensive skills: shooting, rebounding, passing,
and dribbling.
• Defensive skills: blocking, stealing, and
again, rebounding.
5. Why do I like?
• I like basketball because it helps
increase our height and helps us be
a good team player.
• I like playing it with my friends in
school.
6. Fun facts about Basketball

championships (17), including seven straight from 1960
to 1966.

NBA, holds the record for most points scored in a
career with 38,387.
