THE RED TENT PROJECT MANAGER, KASANKA BABOON PROJECT — NOVEMBER 2016-
ONGOING
The Red Tent Project is a campaign with it’s origins in my Watson Year. During this fundraiser $6,000
was raised to provide sustainable menstrual hygiene products such as menstrual cups and reusable
pads to young girls and women in peri-urban and rural areas of Zambia. Workshops in which women
were educated about menstruation, period management, and how to sew cloth pads themselves were
conducted at various points. www.gofundme.com/the-red-tent-project.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGING ASSISTANT, MARIE STOPES ZAMBIA (MSZ);
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA—DECEMBER 2016-APRIL 2017
Assisted in marketing and evaluating existing MSZ Youth Activities such as the Teen Diva Centers
(where girls aged 16-24 can access free contraceptive counseling and services in nonjudgmental and
youth-friendly way). Conducted focus groups with rural communities in the Copperbelt to asses newly
created mobilization strategies created by MSZ and ideo.org. Organized and thematized events held
at Diva Centers every other Friday. Collaborated in creating innovative ways of collecting qualitative
data through Teen-Connectors at Diva Centers. Designed a youth-friendly efficacy chart that utilized
the “Divine Diva” models. Developed MSZ’s social media strategy and created counseling scripts for
the Teen-Connectors that spoke to aspirations rather than merely information.
