INTRODUCTION
The “Library ManagementSystem”has been developed to override the problems
prevailing in the practicing manual system. This software is supported to eliminate
and in some cases reduce the hardships faced by this existing system. Moreover
this system is designed for the particular need of the company to carry out
operations in a smooth and effective manner.
The application is reduced as much as possible to avoid errors while entering the
data. It also provides error message while entering invalid data. No formal
knowledge is needed for the user to use this system. Thus by this all it is user-
friendly. Library Management System as described above can lead error free,
secure, reliable and fast management system. It can assist the user to concentrate
on their other activities rather to concentrate on the record keeping. Thus it will
help organization in better utilization of recourses.
Every organization, whether big or small, has challenges to overcome and
managing the information of Books, Students, Librarian, Address, and Member.
Every Library Management System has different Student needs; therefore we
design exclusive employee management system that is adapted to your managerial
requirements. This is design to assist in strategic planning, and will help you
ensure that your organization is equipped with the right level of information and
detail for your future goals. Also, for those busy executive who are always on the
go, our systems come with remote access features, which allow you to manage
your workforce anytime, at all times. These systems will ultimately allow you to
better manage resources.
PROBLEM OF STATEMENT
In our existing system all the transaction of books are done manually, So taking
more time for a transaction like borrowing a book or returning a book and also for
searching of members and books. Another major disadvantage is that to preparing
the list of books borrowed and the available books in the library will take more
time, currently it is doing as a one day process for verifying all records. So after
conducting the feasibility study we decided to make the manual Library
management system to be computerized. Proposed system is an automated Library
Management System. Through our software user can add members, add books,
search members, search books, update information, edit information, borrow and
return books in quick time.
Some of the problems being faced in manual system are as follows:
 Fast report generation is not possible.
 Tracing a book is difficult.
 Information about issue/return of the books is not properly maintained.
 No central database can be created as information isnot available in
database.
Our proposed system has the following advantages.
 User friendly interface
 Fast access to database
 Less error
 More Storage Capacity
 Search facility
 Look and Feel Environment
 Quick transaction
All the manual difficulties in managing the Library have been rectified by
implementing Computerization.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the Library Management system is discipline of the
planning, organizing and managing the library tasks. Our project aims at making
the task of library easy. Library Management is entering the records of new book
and retrieving the details of book available in the library. We can issue book to the
library member and maintain their records and can also checks how many book are
issued and stock available in the library. In the project we can maintain the late
fine of library member who return the issued book after the due date. The project is
totally built at administrative end and thus only the administrator is guaranteed the
access.
SCOPE
It may help collecting perfect management in detail. In a very short time, the
collection will be obvious, simple and sensible. It will help in current all works
relative to Library Management System. It will be also reduced the cost of
collecting the management and collection procedure will go on smoothly.
Our project aims at business process automation, i.e. we have tried to computerize
various processes of Library Management System.
 In computer system the person has to fill the various forms and number of
copies of the forms can be easily generated at a time.
 In computer system, it is not necessary to create the manifest but we can
directly print it, which saves our time.
 To assist the staff in capturing the effort spent on their respective working
areas.
 To utilize resources in an efficient manner by increasing their productivity
through automation.
 The system generates types of information they can be used for various
purposes.
 It satisfies the user requirement.
 Be easy to understand by the user and operator.
 Have a good user interface.
METHODOLOGY
Model View Controller or MVC as it is popularly called, is a software design
pattern for developing web applications. A Model View Controller pattern is made
up of the following three parts:
 Model – The lowest level of the pattern which is responsible for maintaining
data.
 View – This is responsible for displaying all or a portion of the data to the
user.
 Controller – SoftwareCode that controls the interactions between the Model
and View.
MVC is popular as it isolates the application logic from the user interface layer and
supports separation of concerns. Here the Controller to generate a final presentable
response. The MVC can be graphically represented as follows.

RESOURCES
 Operating System: Windows 2000/ XP/7
 Front End: C#, .Net Framework
 Back End: MySQL server
 Processor: Intel Pentium Dual Core, 1.7 GHz
 RAM: 512 MB
 Hard Disk: 20 GB or more
LIMITATIONS
 Excel export has not been developed for Student, Books due to some
critically.
 The transactions are executed in off-line mode, hence on-line data for Issues,
Librarian capture and modification is not possible.
 Off-line reports of Student, Member, Issues cannot generate due to batch
mode execution.
TECHNOLOGY USED
 Visual Studio 2008 as front end
 My SQL server as back end
