Accidents involving falls, injuries, unsafe conditions, defective equipment. Violence involving guns, abuses, assaults etc. Illness involving asbestos, silica, lead, hepatitis B, etc. (Dessler, G.,2013).
Glaring statistics; the more reason why OSHA (Dessler, G., 2013., bls.gov, n. d.).
How OSHA was established, its responsibilities (Dessler, G., 2013)
Ways of preventing workplace violence including no firearms in workplace (Dessler, G., 2013)
Conduct safety inspections, checklist, proper design of equipment and training, posters, positive reinforcement etc. (Dessler, G., 2013)
For respiratory illnesses monitor air quality whenever the hazard is up to ½ the expected level in the case of asbestos, silica, lead. The use of gloves and hand washing for universal protection and seclusion in case of infection outbreak (Dessler, G., 2013).
If the job is making the employees sick there will be increased turnover, the company’s finance could suffer because of lawsuits, productivity will decrease because of absenteeism and the company may have a bad reputation from violations (chon.com, n. d.).
