3. Background
In mid_May, 2007, Mr. Sadewo Prasetyo, Logistic
Superintendent at PT Thiess Contractor Indonesia (TCI) in
Balikpapan, was reviewing his Mobilization project.
TCI had just awarded a new construction project tender from
BHX, located in Borneo Island, Indonesia.
The TCI Mobilization Project was started on the date when
the order was given by the Manager to logistic
Superintendent, and should be delivered to end user within 3
weeks period as a target.
4. Issue
Mr. Sadewo had 3 weeks as a time target to finish the
mobilization project. But the project delay for 8 days become
29 days.
In the beginning, the progress of the project was very slow.
In fact, there were some steps in Phase III which had slow
progress than they used to be.

6. Plan Vs Actual
The actual is late by 8 days compared to the plan because :
2 days of standby waiting for river Vessel.
2 days of loading.
1 day of selling permit.
2 days delay due to bad weather.
1 days of standby due to payment problem.
7. Recommendation
These delays can be minimized by :
Tender for shipping line was opened to get the best value for
money this could the reason why the vessel were delayed.
Selling permit should be done along with approval of transport.
They could select better equipment to use.
They should be better communication with accounting
department
Plan for weather prediction during survey.
