MR ANGAT KALSI – BEng (Hons) PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING
The above named started the above degree with Aston University in 2014 and graduated in 2016 with a
2:1.
This programme is a top up degree delivered on a work based blended distance learning basis and intended
for those who are employed full time in the engineering sector. Angat was completing his apprenticeship
with his employer at the same time, and took a short break away from the programme to concentrate on
his apprenticeship examinations. Upon his return, rather than shift the end date of the programme, he
decided to condense studying the modules so that he could graduate within the original timeframe. Angat
was advised that this would be a significant challenge, however, his capacity for work and his motivation to
complete the programme was excellent and he did indeed graduate as planned.
The programme is very intensive and Angat showed real commitment by working extremely hard, especially
in view of the above situation. His average result across the 7 modules he undertook was 68% which was
a great achievement. He always submitted his work to scheduled deadlines and attended evening meetings
after work with his Academic Supervisor.
Angat was elected Student Representative for his cohort of fellow students and was a member of the
Programme Committee which was made up of the programme delivery team, academics and industry
representatives. He attended these regularly and contributed in an articulate, mature and professional
manner. The Committee respected his input, so much so, that after he graduated, he was asked to remain
on the Committee as an industry representative.
Angat is an exceptional person and deserved the 2:1 that he achieved.
