Purpose of Quantas Allocation Engine
• To provide project related organizations with the ability to perform
allocations that are not met with standard functionality, for example
• Revenue based allocations
• Unit based allocations
• Unique percentage allocations
• Saves time by automating the allocation procedures
• To provide better reporting which gives the company the ability to
better analyze their project activities

Terminology
• Allocation
• A method of distributing transactions to projects and tasks.
• Source Project
• The project where the transactions originate and are being allocated from.
• Target Project
• The project where the transactions are being allocated to.
• Offset Transactions
• Transactions that generate a reversing entry on the source project. For instance
if $1,000 is allocated out of Project A to Project B then an offsetting entry would
generate $(1000) to Project A.

Problem
• Oracle Project Allocations has limited functionality:
• Only generates Burden or Miscellaneous allocation transactions
• Only uses one Expenditure Type and one Expenditure Organization on the
allocated transactions
• Extension is available however limitations exist
• Allocated transactions are all stamped with the Transaction Source of “Project
Allocation”
• Limits identification in Expenditure Inquiry from which allocation the transaction originated
• Allocated transactions generate cost transactions
• Will not generate non-cost related transactions such as unit or revenue based transactions

• An approach exists to generate virtually any project related allocation
• The Allocation Engine can generate:
• Revenue based transactions
• Unit based transactions
• Maintains source data on the allocated transactions
• Offset entries to source transactions
• Provides flexibility for project related organizations to properly distribute
their transactions
• Reporting is improved as costs and revenue are properly distributed
• Rollback functionality exists which allows for an allocation run to be
reversed and run again

Details on Quantas Allocation Engine
• The Allocation Engine can use the data on the source transaction for the
target such as:
• the source expenditure type
• the source expenditure organization
• the employee name on the source transaction
• the expenditure item date of the source transaction
• Unique data can be used on the allocated transactions such as:
• Stamp the transactions with a unique Transaction Source
• Apply any Expenditure Type Class to the allocated transaction
• Generate revenue or unit based allocated transactions
• Offset entries can be made to the source project or any other project if
required

Other Types of Transactions to Allocate
• Any PA transaction can be allocated including:
• WIP, Usages, Straight Time, Misc Trans, Supplier Invoices, Inventory, Burden
• Stamp virtually any transaction attribute on the allocated transactions
• Source transactions can be identified on the allocated transactions via
the expenditure item id
• Allocations can be run at any interval including daily, monthly or
weekly

Rollback Feature
• The Rollback Feature allows the user to reverse any entries that have
been incorrectly allocated
• Valuable feature when allocation runs are run prior to all entries
being allocated
• Allows rolled back entries to be selected on the next allocation run

Summary
• Allocate any type of transaction
• Generate any type of allocated transaction including Straight Time,
Usages, Inventory, Supplier Invoices
• Use unique Transaction Sources
• Maintain all source transaction attributes if required
• Create Revenue based entries
• Roll Back Feature allows correcting errors automatically if necessary
