THE sixth edition of the RJN Charity Cup was the second without the co-founder Richard Nicholson but a
great day was had by all to remember this nice man with one of the charities very close to the Nicholson's
family heart.
"The biggest thank you goes to the local community, who again pulled together for this important
event. Their kind donations and the generosity of the club members, family members and friends, who
supported the event on the day, meant we had 25 teams involved & we raised £5,755.00.
"The two causes that received a cheque were the Ronald McDonald House Children's Charity & Kingsthorpe
Junior Development to allow youngsters to be taught golf at this fine club."
Andrew Kunman Co-Founder said: "A big thanks to Paul and Kathy Armstrong, Michelle Nicholson, Nicky &
Jude from KGC, Audi Northampton, My BusinessWorkWear & BBX for their sponsorship of the event.
In association with Apprentice Supermarket, the RJN Trophy will sponsor the 2015 Shires Junior Golf Tour
Order of Merit. The winner will receive help and support including travel, clothing and a holiday,
so good luck to all the boys and girls taking part.
The 2015 charity, chosen by Richard's daughter Michelle, is the Ronald McDonald Charity Oxford
Branch and KGC Junior Development Fund with Audi Northampton & My BusinessWorkWear being our
main sponsors.
We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who helped sell raffle tickets, played in the team
competitions and bid for auction prizes, and to all of the businesses that supported us on the day.

Richard’s great friend, co-founder and business partner Andrew Kunman understandably found it hard
to organise the 2014 event at Kingsthorpe, and was therefore very grateful to many people for getting

We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all
competitions and bid for auction prizes, and to all of
the businesses that supported us on the day.
We hope you enjoyed the RJN Charity Cups.
FOLLOWING a fund raising golf tournament at
Kingsthorpe two cheques for £4,000 were handed
over to NGH Oncology Department and Kingsthorpe
Golf Club junior development fund.
This was the third year of the RJN Charity Cup and
featured 38 teams of four players. It was hailed as a
big success by event organiser Richard Nicholson.
He said: “We had over 90 prizes kindly donated
by Kingsthorpe businesses, plus football, golf and
cricket memorabilia that was auctioned off. It was
a real community event and we would like to thank
everyone who got involved.”
Nicholson passed on the money to Alison McCulloch of NGH oncology department. This will be used
to improve the Chemotherapy and outpatients area and the Chemotherapy Suite.
The money raised for Kingsthorpe juniors was passed on to the club by fellow organiser Andrew
Kunman. It will be used to improve and encourage new and existing members to play the game.

A RECORD turnout of 41 teams of four players took part in the fourth year of the RJN Charity Cup.
Following this fund raising tournament at Kingsthorpe two
cheques for £4,750 were handed over to NGH Talbot Butler
Ward and the club’s junior development fund.
Event organiser Richard Nicholson said: “We had a record
businesses.
“We also had football, golf and cricket memorabilia being
auctioned off. It just proves this tournament continues to be
a real community event. I’d like to thank everyone who got
involved.
“A personal thank you to my co-organiser Andrew Kunman
who continued to make it a success in between my absence
due to my health.”
Nicholson handed the money to Cathy Finnerty of NGH Talbot Butler Ward. This will be used for a new
relatives room, which will have en-suite facilities, so relatives can be close to their loved ones. It will
also go towards a quiet room, where patients can talk to visitors in a nice, quiet environment.
Kunman (ApprenticeSupermarket.com) handed the money to Kingsthorpe junior member Daniel
Blackmore as the club continue to encourage youngsters to play golf.

TWO cheques for £1,880 were handed over to The Prostate
Cancer Charity and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance
following a fund raising golf tournament at Kingsthorpe GC.
The inaugural RJN Charity Day, which took place in
September and featured 21 teams of four players, was
hailed as a big success by one of the event organisers
Richard Nicholson.
Kingsthorpe member Nicholson, who has terminal cancer,
said: “We had 58 prizes kindly donated by Kingsthorpe
businesses, plus 23 items and signed memorabilia that were
auctioned off.
“The tournament was a real community event and I’d like to thank everyone who got involved. We will
be doing it again next year, hopefully in mid-summer.”

FOLLOWING a fund raising golf tournament, two cheques for £4,000 were handed over to St Luke’s
Cancer Charity and Parkinson’s UK.
This was the second year of the RJN Charity Cup at Kingsthorpe and featured 39 teams of four
players. It was hailed as another massive success by one of the event organisers Richard Nicholson.
Kingsthorpe member Mr Nicholson, who has cancer, said: “We had 70 prizes
kindly donated by Kingsthorpe businesses, plus football, golf and cricket
signed memorabilia that were auctioned off. Thanks to everyone who got
involved.”

Luke’s Cancer Centre, and fellow organiser Andrew Kunman (left) handed
over the money to Angela Jeffery & Val Hamblin of Parkinson’s UK.
The money raised for St Luke’s will go to help in providing a new and
innovative method of delivering radiotherapy for patients with inoperable
brain tumors. The stereotactic radiotherapy treatment delivers highly accurate and focused rays to
the brain tumor and this can increase the survival chances of patients with secondary brain cancer.
The money raised for Parkinson’s UK will go to help the Northampton, Daventry and Towcester branch
which has approximately 250 members and friends. The branch is managed by an elected committee
of volunteers who bring together people with Parkinson’s, their carers and families, and provide
support, information and regular activities.
