The summary provides an overview of recent developments at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. Donations from championship winners Serena Williams and Roger Federer, as well as Andy Murray's Olympic outfit, have added new exhibits. A new 3D film produced by Sony gives viewers different perspectives of The Championships from the grounds staff, ball boys/girls, and spectators. Several hundred Centre Court and No. 3 Court tickets will also now be available to purchase online the day before matches.

2. CHAMPIONS SHOW THEIR SUPPORT
WE HAVE RECEIVED SOME NEW
DONATIONS FROM OUR CHAMPIONS
AND MEDALISTS THIS YEAR.
With The Championships and Olympics
completed we have had a special summer
here at Wimbledon. Both Serena Williams and
Roger Federer, the two Wimbledon Champions,
have donated their gear and outfits that were
worn during their victories at this year’s finals.
Federer’s shoes, shirt, and sweater are on
display, while Serena has donated her entire
wardrobe and sports bag. This year, however,
has been a unique one. We have been lucky
enough to have the runner up at this year’s
Gentlemen’s final share some of the spotlight
with the Champion. Andy Murray, who had lost
to Federer in the Championships, had originally
donated his attire from that match, but he got
his revenge and beat Federer in The Gold Medal
Match at the Olympics. He has kindly shared
his Olympic gear, Team Great Britain shirt and
shorts along with his shoes, with the Museum.
What makes this even more special is that the
Olympics brought with it another rarity to the
grounds of Wimbledon. The traditional white
gear required here at the Club was put on hold
while the Olympics carried its own clothing
tradition. The players wore their national kits.
People who have spent a lot of time here can
say it was a different experience seeing so
many players not wearing white. In the display
of the Museum, hangs Andy Murray’s Team
Britain wardrobe showing off new colours in
the showcase
SONY 3D FILM
SONY HAS PRODUCED A 3D FILM FOR
THE MUSEUM BASED ON THIS YEAR’S
FINAL BETWEEN ROGER FEDERER AND
ANDY MURRAY. IT GIVES THE VIEWERS
DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT IT IS
LIKE TO BE AT WIMBLEDON DURING THE
CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The film, Viewpoint, has recently opened
at the Museum and has already resonated
strongly with visitors. The film features 3D
footage of the final between Federer and
Murray, along with some behind-the-scenes
look at the experience and responsibilities
of 3 different types of people leading up to
and including the day of The Championships.
The viewers get to see the day from the
point of view of the grounds staff, ball boys
and girls, and spectators. We see some of
the preparation throughout the Grounds
along with some footage of the gruelling
training the ball girls and boys endure. The
3D technology gives you an opportunity to
feel as though you are watching the readying
of Wimbledon live while being part of the
journey. You can’t help but get goose bumps!
The film complements
the Tour perfectly, giving
a visual representation
of The Championships to
counterpoint the commentary which our
guides give as they lead visitors around the
grounds. Seeing some of the techniques that
the workers use in preparing the courts allows
visitors to connect, and to appreciate The
Championships for all of the hard work and
dedication being done behind-the-scenes
all year. It allows them to understand what
it feels like to be in the Centre Court seats
during the final day of The Championships.
The cinema where the film is being shown is
in the same location as that of the previous
film The Science of Tennis. During the closure
of the Museum for the Olympic break-
down the cinema has been fitted with new
equipment, the 3D screen and new seating
arrangements to allow for better viewing to
accommodate the film. We will be providing
custom designed 3D glasses, yours to keep,
that highlight the essence of the video for the
full viewing experience.

SHOW COURT TICKETS FOR THE
CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE SOLD ANNUALLY IN
ADVANCE VIA THE PUBLIC BALLOT.
During The Championships, an allocation of
Show Court tickets, as well as several thousand
Ground Passes, is retained for sale at the
turnstiles on the day of play. A substantial
queue forms for this daily allocation. Centre
and No.2 Courts are available for Days 1-9; No.1
Court and Ground Passes for all 13 days.
The quantity of Ground Passes will vary
depending on the number of people already in
the Grounds, the number of courts in play, and
the weather. These tickets give access to the
unreserved seating/standing areas on Courts
3-19. An enormous video screen playing live
coverage of Show Court matches is a popular
visitor attraction and is visible from the picnic
terraces and water gardens.
Several hundred Centre Court and No.3 Court
tickets will be sold online on the day before
play via the Ticketmaster website. Details will
be communicated initially to those people who
have registered for regular Wimbledon e-mail
newsletters via www.wimbledon.com.
Show Court tickets which are no longer needed
are resold to visitors already in the Grounds.
The original ticket holders place the unwanted
tickets in special red boxes for collection by the
Honorary Stewards, or if wishing to retain them
as souvenirs, have the barcode scanned upon
leaving so that a new ticket is generated. These
tickets are re-distributed at a nominal charge
from the Ticket Resale kiosk near Court 18. All
of the money collected for the resold tickets is
donated to charity.
The Public Ballot is only open from 1 August
to 15 December each year. Application forms
can be requested during this period by
sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope
(220 mm x 110 mm approx.) to: AELTC, PO Box
98, LONDON SW19 5AE. Applications which are
not accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed
envelope will not be processed. Only one
application per household is permitted.
To enter the ballot for Wheelchair places on
the Show Courts, please write “WHEELCHAIR”
clearly on your outer envelope.
Requests postmarked after 15 December will
not be processed, nor can we issue forms to
personal callers after this date. We recommend
that requests for forms are submitted as soon
as possible after 1 August to avoid the busy
Christmas post.
