1. Manali has been named after the legend - Manu. According to legend, Manali was given its name in honor of Manu, a legendary character from ancient Hindu scriptures who is regarded as the ancestor of the human race. The Saptarishis (the seven celestial sages) are also thought to have resided here. 2. Lord Hanuman’s mother Anjani meditated here. Anjani, the mother of Lord Hanuman, is said to have meditated and worshipped Lord Shiva where the current Shivaling now stands. 3. There is a mini-Israel Near Manali.
