Amy's Tourism Experience and Community Involvement
1. EXPERIENCE
Amy Virgo, as a sole proprietor, incorporated the agency in February 1999 after relocating from South Florida to Citrus
County. Amy’s expertise and experience in all facets of the tourism industry is based on her past extensive business
history as Management Consultant in major hotels with positions such as General Manager and Director of Sales and
Marketing since 1983.
Part of her job duties included repositioning the hotel properties in the community and to generate immediate bed
revenue by analyzing current travel trends. To accomplish this goal, work-sharing relationships and co-op marketing
programs were developed with destination marketing organizations such as chambers of commerce, tourist
development councils, and convention & visitors bureaus, which included trade shows and FAMs.

NATURE COAST ECO TOURISM ALLIANCE, INC. (NON-PROFIT)
NCTD created a non-profit organization (Nature Coast Eco-Tourism Alliance, Inc.) {NCETA] incorporated in the State of
Florida December 20, 2000 with the purpose of promoting primarily Citrus County vacation packages with members that
provide net rates and to create a marketing strategy that is funded through co-op advertising and grants. NCTD also
created another non-profit organization (Travel Green Eco Alliances Inc.) in 2008 with the same purpose, although
geared to promote ALL of Florida’s eight (8) regions.
NCTD in partnership with NCETA is a special interest tourism development company that has a vision of a community
working together for tourism and to market the experience of travel, which is the major motivation for travel. Part of
this vision is responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and sustains the well being of local
people while providing a quality experience that connects the visitor to nature.
The Alliance members would be part of the strategy for the agency (NCTD) to expand the impact of the advertising
campaign dollars while allowing for the broadest possible exposure within the available budget. Continued regional
tourism marketing opportunities will enhance and expand the marketing efforts for supporting “Main Street America”.
It is easily accessible to the communities so collaborative work can be done to design and implement the campaign for
Eco-Tourism.
