Ms. Brown and Grant Committee,
Hat Trick Theatre Productions has provided memorable experiences to thousands over
the past ten years. Our mission is to provide unforgettable performances to all audiences in the
Greater Tampa Bay Area and beyond, through exemplary people, experienced and newly
discovered, creating memories that live long after the curtain falls.
As a 501(c) 3 non-profit, we rely on donors to help us bring live theatre to the Tampa
Bay community. Typically, all costumes, sets, and props for our productions are made or built by
our small staff so expenses can add up quickly. We also pride ourselves on the fact that we are
one of the few semi-professional non-profit theatre companies in the Bay Area to fully stipend
our actors and main crew, allowing local theatremakers to pursue their passions, otherwise not
available to them with other companies. Since 2004, Hat Trick Theatre has excelled at doing a
lot with a little; creating exceptional shows with limited resources. A grant from The Times
would be funding an organization dedicated to both artistic and financial professionalism. We are
committed to being good stewards of this grant as we continue to grow and bring even greater
theatrical excellence to the Tampa area.
With our 2013-2014 season, Hat Trick Theatre produced Neville’s Island, William
Shakespeare’s Land of the Dead, A Thousand Clowns, and Unnecessary Farce to great acclaim.
As we enter our 11th
year, we look forward to producing another lineup of great shows and are
excited about what the 2015 year holds for our audiences, as we announce our new residency at
The Murray Studio Theatre at Ruth Eckerd Hall, explore the possibilities of free Shakespeare in
the park with the Tampa Shakespeare Festival, and reignite the flame of theatrical learning via
youth theatre at The Murray – along with the raucous farce, fun, and drama that has become the
Hat Trick trademark. We want to invite The Tampa Bay Times to be a flagship grantee of our
season, as we venture into our new space.
