The Spark Perspectives Project challenges middle school students (seventh and eighth graders) to think about what it means to look at the world from other perspectives — to walk in someone else's shoes. We talk about the growing anxiety and depression problem, and how looking beyond the self can be helpful in managing those conditions. The publisher talks to the students about why they should share their voice and empowers them to do so by giving them the opportunity to submit projects she will consider for publication in an upcoming issue of Dialog Magazine. During a break-out session, the students are given the opportunity to check out dialogmagazine.com and brainstorm project ideas. Students can also go online to take the Dialog Perspectives quiz, How Open are You to Other Perspectives?, at dialogmagazine.com/perspectives-quiz.
