Chicago AWS User Group Thursday, February 28, 2019 Want to learn reinforcement learning but don't know where to start? Enter DeepRacer, a 1/18th scale radio-controlled four-wheel drive car by Amazon Web Services. DeepRacer includes a fully-configured cloud environment that you can use to train your Reinforcement Learning models. It takes advantage of the new Reinforcement Learning feature in Amazon SageMaker and also includes a 3D simulation environment powered by AWS RoboMaker. You can train an autonomous driving model against a collection of predefined race tracks included with the simulator and then evaluate them virtually or download them to a AWS DeepRacer car and verify performance in the real world. During this talk, we'll cover a quick overview of reinforcement learning, and an introduction to the car. We'll also talk about possible use cases and how to use it to train an entire global technology workforce. We also have early access to an actual DeepRacer car (thanks Amazon)! It'll be on display for everyone to take a look at. Hopefully we'll even get it fired up for a quick demo drive. Containers are usually stateless and fault tolerant, and Amazon EC2 Spot Instances are a great match for powering your Amazon EC2 compute for these workloads. In this workshop, you learn how to provision, manage, and maintain your Amazon Kubernetes clusters with Amazon EKS at any scale on Spot Instances to architect for optimizations on cost and scale. We dive deep using hands-on material to provision and scale worker nodes, handle interruptions, and design for fault tolerance. We also demonstrate successfully managing a suddenly spiky workload. Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry.
