Reserved Instances overview
What is a Reserved Instance (RI)?
• RIs provide you with a significant discount (up to 75%, for Amazon Elastic Compute Clouse
[Amazon EC2]) compared to On-Demand Instance pricing when you commit to a particular instance
family within a region. This RI discount can then be applied across all of your accounts within your
consolidated billing family (which has now migrated to AWS organizations).
• RIs are available for Amazon EC2, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon
Redshift, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, and Amazon DynamoDB
• RIs are available for purchase with:
• One- or three-year terms
• All upfront, partial upfront, and no upfront payment options
• Standard or convertible offering types (EC2 only)
