Hi! My name is Irene.
I have been a part of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County since age 10. Throughout my childhood, I have had to
overcome many obstacles at home. The Club was the only place I felt like I could just be a kid; I was able to escape my
harsh reality. The longer I attended, the better I started performing in school and the more I started looking towards the
future. I became a confident and independent woman because of some very special mentors I had at the Club. They gave
me the most precious gift: hope. I know I would not be in College if it weren’t for the Club. I am now currently enrolled in
the University of Central Arkansas and plan to become a social worker so I can give back.
The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County was there for me when I needed it the most. I truly don’t know
where I would be without it and I am so grateful. The people I met at the Club are my family, the Club is
my HOME.
