My various leadership roles at the school include:
1) Lunch duty supervisor where I monitor student behavior in the lunchroom and at recess.
2) Scholar Bowl coach where I supervise competitive quiz bowl teams and support students' personal skills, discipline, teamwork and self-esteem.
3) Dance coach where I provided instruction to dancers, choreographed routines and led the junior high dance team to five state championship titles.

Dance coach
My role ascoach forthe dance teamwas to provide instructiontoexperience andbeginnerdancers.I
choreographedall of the routinesthroughoutmysix yearsof coaching.Iprovidedmyteamwiththe
positive guidancetheyneededtosucceedandbecome role modelsfortheirpeers.IledourJuniorHigh
Dance Teamto five State ChampionshipTitlesinthe JuniorHighdivision.
SchedulingCommittee
Thiscommittee wasmade upof the entire sixthgrade core teachinggroup,alongwithone teacherfrom
special education.Ourgoal wasto meetandreschedule all sixthgrade studentstominimizebehavior
problems,aswell asevenoutclasssizes.We succeededindoingso,byspendingtime afterschool for
twodays, totalingtwelvehours.Ourclasssizesare now averagingtwenty-twostudentsperclass.The
behaviorproblemshave alsobeenminimizedasaresultof reschedulingourstudents.
InterviewCommittee
I had the honorof beingaskedtoserve onthe interview committeetohire ournew assistantprincipal
for the 2016-2017 school years.Thiscommittee metatotal of six timestodiscussapplicants,beforethe
interviewstookplace.Whileinterviewswere inprogresswe kepttrackof positivesandnegativesthat
we saw ineach of the candidatesresponsestoquestionsandsituationsgivenbythe interviewer.After
one roundof interviews,the committee spentsevenhoursdiscussingwhothe topthree applicants
2. were.We interviewedthese threeasecondtime,followedbymuchdiscussionaboutwhobe bestfor
our school. We chose the applicantthat wouldbestserve ourfaculty,students,andcommunity.
6th Grade Curriculum Development
As a group,we three sixthgrade teachershadto come up witha readingandEnglishcurriculumthat
was inalignmentwiththe commoncore standards.We have beenworkingonthiscurriculum, whichis
ever-changingfortwoyears.
