FOREWORD
-
This book written by Dir.
Atty. Alvin T. Claridades is
one of the most
comprehensive books I have
ever read regarding
environmental laws. As a
Commissioner of the Climate
Change Commission, an
environmental planner, a
Pollution Control Specialist, and a practitioner, I am honored
to be given a chance to read this book and to write its
foreword as well.
The author of this book is truly a remarkable public
servant, a civil engineer, an environmental planner, a lawyer,
and a lawbook writer. His contribution to the field of law and
environment is of great importance and created a huge
impact on our society and the environment.
This book is a comprehensive case compendium, and I
am astonished at how the author was able to gather and
study all the pertinent laws and landmark treaty agenda,
accord regulations, and conference provisions in one book. It
contains a very detailed review and study of the various
laws, constitutional provisions, covenants, and treaties
concerning the environment and natural resources which is
truly impressive as it requires not just a broad knowledge
and keen understanding of these topics but also the passion
2. and dedication in perusing such laws.
This work acts as a basic standard reference point as to
what we have done so far in terms of environmental action
and gives an overview and summary of the state of our
environmental statutes. Basically, it provides us with the vital
information that we can use as our guide and reference in
forming and creating new policies and legislations for the
betterment of the environment.
Overall, this book may serve as a secure launchpad for
what we can still do.
ALBERT P. DELA CRUZ, SR.
