1 serving = 15 grams of Carbohydrates
Fruit
 1 small piece of fruit
 1 cup berries
 Small banana
 ½ cup fruitjuice
 2 Tbsp of dried fruit
Dairy
 1 cup milk
 1 container (6 oz.) of
light yogurt
Starch
 1 slice of bread
 1 small tortilla
 ½ cup cooked oatmeal
 3/4 cup cereal
 ½ cup English muffin
 1/3 cup pasta
 1/3 cup rice
 ½ cup corn, peas, or
beans
 ½ medium potato
 ½ hamburger bun
 6-8 crackers
 Use artificial sweetenerslike
Splenda, Equal, or Sweet and
Low instead of adding sugar.
 Replace sugary drinks with
water or diet/ sugar free
drinks.
 Eat REGULARLY!Aimfor 3
meals and 2 snacks a day. All
meals and snacks MUST
include a carbohydrate
source!
 Potatoes, corn, peas, and
beans count as “starch” and
not “veggies”. You should
count them as a carbohydrate
source.
