OUR MISSION
We are committed to developing the whole child by growing student leaders in a
collaborative environment.
The Motto of Brooklet Elementary School is:
The mission of the Brooklet Elementary School Learning Commons is also the mission of the
school. The purpose of the media center is to foster and promote the development of the whole
child by offering space and resources for students to work independently and collaboratively.
There are many resources that are offered in the Learning Commons such as books,
Chromebooks, a story corner, reading areas, workspaces, a makerspace, manipulatives, puzzles
and games, a LEGO wall, and a student news room. All of these resources provide opportunities
for each student to find their inner genius by allowing them to work independently or
collaboratively with a small group or class. The media specialist will create a learning
environment that is conducive to participatory learning by providing opportunities for
collaboration through makerspace projects or group discussion after story time. Opportunities
for video production and editing will be provided in the student news room with the use of video
equipment, and iPad, MacBook, and green screen. Students will also have opportunities to grow
as readers as they are allowed to check out more books and through the implementation of e-
