1. Warren Hawkins: “CAU FOURever”
By Alexis Grace
Warren Hawkins III, a rising senior and a St. Louis native, is now Clark Atlanta
University’s 30th SGA President.
Hawkins, a Social Work major, has had much experience with Clark Atlanta’s
student government. As a rising senior, he has had the privilege of being freshman
and sophomoreclass president. Now, he currently serves as the Student
Government Association Vice President.
Hawkins stated, “What I love most about CAU is how Clark Atlanta University is
so rich in history and was founded upon the betterment of our people. We follow in
the footprints of the trailblazers.”
On April 6, 2018, friends and family gathered to hear the results of the campaign
election Hawkins worked so diligently on.
Campaign Manager, Hannah Allen, said, “He's very organized & detailed with
literally everything he does, so executing his vision was a very enjoyable
experience. It didn't even feel like work most of the time becausehe already had
everything prepared.”
2. Hawkins does not see Clark Atlanta University as a place that needs drastic
change, but rather a place that can be improved because he believes it is already
amazing. He is honored to serve CAU for his fourth time and is elated to make his
platform “CAU Forever” a movement.
“Regardless if you’re a student, professor, alum, custodian, as long as you walk the
grounds of CAU then CAU Forever applies to you. I chosethis theme to connectthe
past, present and future,” Hawkins stated.
Hawkins said his platform was more than a campaign, but an insight into what he
has in store for the upcoming schoolyear. “I wanted everyone to feel as if they
were a part of this movement,” he said.
Hawkins speaks highly of his institution, the students, the staff, and his peers.
Javae Obey, videographer of Hawkins’ campaign team and a Fashion Design
major at Clark Atlanta University, stated, “He has an attitude of gratitude and
values everyone no matter what roles they play. He always remains positive and
high spirited.”
Hawkins believes CAU has helped him grow while holding these titles, and that it
is not only about the position, but the opportunity to serve God’speople and fulfill
his purpose.
