ENGINEERING PROJECTS
– Synthesis of Iron OxidePigment from the Treatment of Truetown Acid Mine Drainage (Thesis Project), Ohio
University (August 2012 – December 2014)
o Performed an in-depth analysis for the treatment of acid minedrainageand formation of ferric oxide
pigments utilizingan activeaeration system. The primary focus of the treatment system was to
produce a quality iron oxidepigment that can be marketed, and provide a sustainabletreatment
method for acid minedrainagecontaminated waterways.
– Water and Wastewater Treatment Facility Designs, Ohio University (Fall 2011,2012,and Winter 2012)
o Developed in-depth wastewater treatment facilities including:flowdemands usingpopulation
modeling, determined the influentpipe diameter and slope, initial treatment via bar screens and
aerated grit chambers were utilized, clarifiers wereused for initial BOD removal, secondary treatment
utilized aerated activated sludgeprocesses to remove BOD, then final clarification and disinfection
systems were utilized before discharging.
o Designed water treatment systems including:flowdemands utilizingpopulation modeling, water
softening processes, coagulation and flocculation systems includingtanks and mixing, anthracitesand
filters sized for filtration needs, followed by a calculated disinfection dosagewith appropriate
retention time within a clear well.
WORK EXPERIENCE
