Dear Sir or Madam,
I want to start off by thanking you for your time in considering me for this position. After
reviewing your ad for the Crane Operator position, I am pleased to say that I not only meet the
requirements of the aforesaid job but I seemingly exceed the requirements needed.
I have about four and a half years of experience working as a Crane Operator in the oil and gas
industry on moving installations and two years on land and I currently hold a valid certification
to operate cranes. The cranes that I have operated are from 20 to 175 tons ranging in a variety
of makes and classifications. I have verifiable lifts in excess of 50 tons, and I have done a variety
of operations. I have assisted divers in subsea well decommissioning (P&A); Decommissioned
platforms, snubbing, wireline, P&A, clearing sites, and coil tubing, and jobs with an array of
various scopes in the operation.
I have made several sea floor lifts ranging from 10 tons to 50 tons depending how you define
the term (sea floor lift). My largest offshore lift made is 60 tons on a moving installation. I have
been involved in many critical operations and executed them efficiently with the highest
standards in safety.
My experience includes inspecting the work site, the crane, and performing a job safety
analysis and/or a critical lift sheet (when applicable) before starting operations, in order to
proceed safely by complying to the company’s and client’s regulations.
I have the knowledge to operate cranes in a safe and controlled manner by abiding by the
company’s procedures to reduce the risks of accidents and/or injuries. I also have the
experience and knowledge to determine the lifting capability of the crane based on its safe
working limit and the weather conditions. I have had zero incidents in the six years that I have
operated cranes. No loss of time, damage to property, or injuries whatsoever.
I have the training and knowledge to inspect the cranes to look for any wear and/or deficiencies
that could cause malfunctions later during operations. I also have experience performing
general and preventive maintenance and on site repairs to keep it functioning properly
reducing loss of time.
Before I chose my career path as a Crane Operator I had jobs dealing with people in different
environments. I work well with others, and I am very adamant in getting a job done safely,
promptly, and to the best of my ability. With that being said, I can take orders as well as I can
give them, as far as pushing a deck crew. I have no problem with taking lead, or charge, and
responsibility as well.
I am physically able to perform the duties associated with this position and I have the agility
and great balance to work safely when using this type of machinery. I am flexible enough to
work different shifts based on the job at hand and I would appreciate the opportunity to put my
skills and training to work for your company. I do believe that I would prove to be a valuable
employee and asset to a company such as yours.
