This	FREE	resource	on	“How	I	Lowered	My	Blood	Sugar	Levels”	list’s	
all	the	foods	that	has	allowed	me	to	reduce	my	blood	sugar	levels,	
lower	my	weight	and	become	free	of	diabetic	medication.		
	
Naturally	everyone’s	results	will	be	different.		
It	has	taken	me	11	months	to	lower	my	fasted	levels	(first	
measurement	before	breakfast)	from	an	average	of	120	mg/dl		
(6.7mmol/L)	to	my	current	level	of	94	mg/dl		(5.2mmol/L)	.			
	
I	managed	the	diabetes	with	NovoRapid	during	the	day	as	required	
and	Levemir		at	night		during	most	of	that		11months		period	and	
gradually	reduced	the	medication	as	my	blood	sugar	lowered	over	
time.	
	
I	still	take	fasted	blood	sugar	measurements	every	3	to	4	days	
(mostly	due	to	habit	and	for	peace	of	mind)	but	as	my	fasted	blood	
sugar	levels	are	pretty	constant	I	currently	don’t	take	any	medication	
–	However	I	am	not	declaring	that	I’m	cured	–	just	in	a	much	better	
place	than	I	was	at	the	beginning	of	this	whole	process.	
	
Just	to	be	completely	transparent,	I	also	exercise	at	least	three	time	a	
week	and	that	varies	depending	on	my	mood	and	how	much	time	I	
have	available.	My	exercise	includes	3	to	5	mile	brisk	walk,	gym	
sessions,	Pilates	and	Yoga.	
	
I	have	no	idea	what	would	happen	if	I	were	to	go	back	to	my	old	
eating	and	drinking	habits	and	to	be	honest	that’s	not	an	experiment	
that	I	wish	to	do	right	now.	
	
When	I	started	this	whole	process,	the	purpose	was	just	to	substitute	
the	poor	food	types	with	healthy	replacements	that	were	in-line	with	
my	goals.	However,	I’ve	noticed	two	other	things	about	me	that	have	
changed.	
	
Firstly	–	As	the	blood	sugar	levels	started	to	lower,	it	made	me	feel	
better	about	myself	and	that	encouraged	me	to	exercise,	not	
aggressively,	but	walking	more,	stretching	etc.
Secondly	–	Again	as	a	result	of	the	improvements	I	was	making,	my	
belief	in	this	process	grew	stronger	which	helped	me	not	to	sabotage	
the	whole	process	especially	during	a	six	week	period	when	my	
blood	levels	plateaued	for	a	bit.		
Its	taken	years	for	an	unhealthy	lifestyle	to	bring	on	diabetes	and	
obviously	there	is	no	magic	pill,	so	its	going	to	take	sometime	with	a	
new	healthier	lifestyle	to	lower	your	blood	sugar	naturally.	
	
	All	of	the	above	has	convinced	me	that	as	a	Type	2	diabetic,	it	takes	
more	than	just	eating	better	to	lower	our	blood	sugar,	however	what	
we	put	into	our	mouth	over	time	probably	has	the	biggest	impact	on	
our	health	and	that’s	something	that	we	all	have	control	over,	so	it’s	a	
great	place	to	start	
	
Finally,	as	I	said	earlier	it’s	taken	me	11	months	to	lower	my	blood	
sugar,	get	off	the	Novorapid	&	Levemir	medication	and	lose	some	
weight	in	the	process.	However,	since	I	started	to	share	this	
information	I’ve	come	across	people	who	have	achieved	the	same	
results	in	WEEKS	not	months	and	did	so	naturally	with	no	pills,	no	
prescription,	no	medication	or	even	exercise.

Here	is	the	complete	list	of	foods	that	have	helped	me	to	reduce	my	blood	sugar,	
lower	my	medication	completely	and	lower	my	weight.	
The	list	is	organized	so	that	you	can	use	it	as	a	shopping	list	if	you	wish	(we	do).	
I’ve	also	added	a	miscellaneous	section	at	the	end	so	that	you	can	add	to	the	list	
as	required.	
	
Fruit	&	Vegetables	
Naturally	organic	is	best	if	available	and	affordable.	
I	also	buy	frozen	veg	and	fruits	as	this	can	work	out	cheaper	and	easier	to	store	if	
you	not	able	to	use	the	fresh	fruit	and	vegetables	before	they	deteriorate.		
I	try	to	avoid	all	regular	wheat	and	wheat	based	products	as	well	as	processed	
and	Genetically	Modified	Foods.	
I’m	sure	that	there	are	other	high	quality,	nutrient	dense	foods	that	is	not	on	this	
list		-	so	please	feel	free	to	experiment	and	add	them	if	you	wish.	
	
Diary	
I	do	not	consume	diary	products;	they	are	problematic	for	me	so	I	use	Alpro	nut-
milks	as	a	replacement.		
	
Meat	&	Fish	
Also	I	have	reduced	the	amount	of	meat	and	fish	that	I	consume	–	I’m	not	a	
vegetarian	or	vegan	but	I	have	reduce	meat	considerably	and	when	I	do	consume	
meat	it’s	always	certified	organic	meat	and	I	avoid	farmed	fish.		
Over	the	last	12	months	or	so	I’ve	been	transitioning	to	a	plant	based	diet,	that	
said,	do	whatever	is	acceptable	for	you.		
	
Eggs,	try	to	buy	Free	Range	Organic.	
	
Cooking	Style	
I	don’t	juice	but	I	do	blend	(our	vitamix	is	our	most	used	kitchen	appliance)	
Broil	/	Grill,	Bake,	Boil,	Braise,	Poach,	Roast,	Stew	&	Steam	but	reduce	fried	
cooking,	save	that	for	special	occasions.
