PRSA GEORGIACHAPTER HOSTS MONTHLY MEETING JANUARY 15
ATLANTA – December 23, 2014 – The Public Relations Society of America Georgia
Chapter (www.prsageorgia.org) holds the first monthly meeting for 2015 in January on
Thursday, the 15th
focusing on “Driving Results and Hitting Home Runs in Sports PR and
Communications”.
Atlanta is known as a major sports city and is home to multiple professional and
collegiate sports teams. Many marquee sporting events from major bowl games and
championships to the Olympic Games have been hosted in Atlanta. PR and
communications professionals have the unique opportunity to lead the charge as new
attractions and events come online and to tell the story about Atlanta’s athletic assets.
Beth Marshall, Director of Public Relations for the Atlanta Braves, Trace Messier from
Jackson Spalding, Eric Oberman, VP of communications for the Atlanta Sports Council
and Mike Stamus, Associate Director for Communications and Public Relations for
Georgia Tech Athletics will be panelists. The panel will answer questions about driving
buzz for home teams, using social media to engage audiences in new ways, measuring
success and emerging sports and attractions that are drawing new legions of fans. The
moderator for the meeting will be a fellow PRSA and PR Consultant and Freelance
Sports Write/Broadcaster, Gary McKillips.
The meeting will be held at the Maggiano’s in Buckhead. Check in begins at 11:30 a.m.
and the lunch and program runs from Noon until 1:00 p.m. Meeting details and online

PRSA Georgia (www.prsageorgia.org), the second-largest local chapter in the national
society, consists of some 900 professionals throughout Georgia. Its mission is to
enhance the profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities
for its members. The Chapter has regular monthly meetings and seminars, an Annual
Conference for professionals and an annual Real World PR collegiate conference day.
The Chapter includes eight Special Interest Groups (Corporate and Employee
Communications, Healthcare, Independent Counselors, Leader Board, Nonprofit,
Technology, Travel and Tourism, and Young Professionals) that meet at various times. It
also supports 10 PRSSA (student society) groups at the following colleges: Berry
College (Rome), Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta), Columbus State University
(Columbus), Georgia College & State University (Milledgeville), Georgia State University
(Atlanta), Georgia Southern University (Statesboro), Kennesaw State University
