To Whom This May Concern:
I wanted to give you some information about myself. I am currently a senior at Winthrop University. I am
from Lexington, SC but originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am President of the university’s campus
programming board, DiGiorgio Student Union, also known as DSU. I oversee at least 30 student members
who plan and host events/programs to help promote educational and cultural learning experiences for
students on campus. I also enjoy volunteering with Safe Passage Inc. on a weekly basis where I answer
crisis calls, supply office needs, and act as a child advocate for child abuse victims.
After graduating in May of 2016, I plan on continuing to volunteer with Safe Passage as well as doing
administrative duties at my church in Fort Mill, SC called the Movement Centre (www.itsamovement.org).
In the future, I aspire to do activism work where I advocate for women’s rights and against racial
discrimination. In this past year, I found that I am passionate about these issues and feel as though a lot can
be done to improve these issues. Also, I found myself taking a slight interest in politics, legislation, and
victim assistance. I would find it fulfilling and successful for me to travel around the country advocating for
the issues I am passionate about and empowering women to not conform to societal expectations by fully
being themselves.
I am very excited to connect with you and possibly collaborate in the future. I wish you great luck with your
future endeavors!
Sincerely,
Ayana M. Crawford
