We, Plantronics and Polycom the combined company, are very much focused on enabling our customers with a smarter way to communicate and collaborate. We have an extensive solution offering, from headsets perfect for contact center, mobile workers, and knowledge workers at the office, to desktop phones, conference phones, room video solutions, to video interoperability solution, and the management available as a software and in the cloud, and to tie everything together, our services. In other words, we provide everything that has touchpoints to improving user experiences and keeping them consistent across a number of devices.
This brings us to our persona segmentation. These 7 personas are making up 91% of a typical enterprise environment. One of the questions often asked is “What happened to the other 9% of the enterprise?” The answer is there is an additional persona that was uncovered in our research that we titled “The Conventional Individual Worker”. This is someone who communicates very little as part of their work style or part of their work day. They are not highly collaborative, they are very task focused, and work individually. We didn’t have a lot of communication pain points to solve for them, and it didn’t make sense for us to have a persona dedicated to that group, but we know it exists. Together with these 7 personas, this makes up 100% of a typical enterprise environment.
One of the things worth calling out on this page is to understand that there are some work styles that are more office based. The Office Communicator, the Office Collaborator, and the Office Warrior are all in the office 100% of the time. This group comprises about 43% of the collaborating enterprise.
The Office Communicator is someone who has very high communication and very specific pain points.
The Office Collaborator is someone who has a little bit more of a varied work style as far as how they get work done across devices.
The Office Warrior, or also referred to as the Office Corridor Warrior, is in the office, but spends only about half of their time at personal desk.
The Remote Worker mostly works outside the office, and often from home, and uses lots of non face-to-face communication such as instant messaging.
The Flexible Worker is challenged with working in a lot of different locations. This is also someone who would work from home, at a café, and rarely in the office.
The Road Warrior is highly mobile. It’s a small percentage of the enterprise, but they have some very specific pain points related to always being in motion while maintaining high productivity.
The Connected Executive is really the executive of the future; the “up-and-coming”. They’re very multimodal, they’re travelling a lot, they have many different pain points related to transitions between locations. Their work is very valued by their organization and so companies are doing much to retain and keep their Connected Executives productive.
Now lets talk about product naming!!
It is always difficult to understand product naming systems, we have an adopted naming system for wearing styles which is consistent where possible through the various product families (typically 10, 20, 30, 40) it is well understood by our partners.
We have some legacy 3 digit numbering system, which is composed of the class, wearing style and a gives room to name a special sku.
The new system we have mostly moved to is a 4 digit naming system. Like what is seen in the Voyager 4200 and Savi 8200 just announced today. _IT IS VERY important to use the full product names with customers/partners Voyager 5200 UC or may be confused with Blackwire or Calisto
In this new naming system, the only difference is the addition of a digit that signals the generation of a headset which will help us with planning future replacements.

DECT Forum - Global industry body with the mission to support a collaborative environment of the DECT industry and drive programs to develop and improve DECT wireless technology. They provide endorsement of security implementation via their DECT Security Logo
deDECTed.org - A lose group of interested players from Chaos Computer club, TU-Darmstadt Germany, University of Luxembourg and Bauhaus-Universtat, Weimar Germany. They published a paper outlining the security weaknesses of general DECT Products in 2009.
In late 2008 at the 25th Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin it was outlined how to eavesdrop on DECT based telephony conversations.
Since that time manufacturers of DECT products have been working to implement recommendations to improve security
PLT DECT products are the first to obtain ‘security certification’ for implementation of these recommendations
