need the peace projects all over the country, I am a bit worried about the current tone of desperate

To Whom it May Concern
This is to confirm that Alan Coyne officially volunteered with VSO officially placed at MEWA from July 2009
to Nov 2010, prior to that Alan, had been volunteering independently with MEWA, since Aug 2008. While
serving at MEWA, he resource mobilized for equipment for both Mater and MEWA hospital in July 2011
where sourced hospital equipment dona ons valued at €660,000, were delivers and together with the local
partners he managed the importa on and distribu on to 5 Kenyan hospitals. He collabora vely funded
and established a large Interna onally cer fied computer educa on programme (ICDL), for youth valued at
€3,000.
While on placement Alan trained four staff members from MEWA on proposal wri ng, Monitoring and
Evalua on and research methods, an area he is very strong in. Alan has good knowledge and experience of
‘Needs Analyses’ and Strategic plans. He exhibited strong interpersonal skills that helped him to interact
well with staff and board members. Alan’s strong wri ng skills enabled him to submit quality proposals that
a racted funding and he has a good knowledge and experience of community work and research that
helped him ensuring quality programme and project delivery. During his placement Alan exhibited a strong
understanding of diversity and hence his respect for Islamic and Kenyan cultures at work well and in the
community environment.
Before joining VSO, Alan, funded and ini ated and established the Hope Orphans School. He
collabora vely managed the establishment, wrote funding proposals, prepared and managed the physical
construc on, donor repor ng and M & E of Hope Orphan pre-school and primary school project, he went
out of his way to build a school staff house (value €9,000) and established a an ICT library. Alan is a good
resource mobilizer as shown by his interest and passion, where he also ssecured a grant from the World
Bank mul lateral funding programme for a HIV, AIDS and Intravenous Drug Users (IDU) outreach programme
in Kilifi.

2. Alan is a very commi ed person and he is able to approach different people with confidence. His submits
quality work and has passion for the needy.
