The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non profit organisation in India that
provides midday meals to children enrolled in government schools.
Akshaya Patra’s mid day meal programme provides mid day meals to 1.3
million children, covering over 9,000 schools in nine states in India every day.
The organisation operates numerous kitchens under strict code of hygiene and
efficiency to prepare fresh nutritious meals to the underprivileged children.
The children’s non profit organisation is also involved in other humanitarian
activities such as awareness and talent development programmes, teacher
workshops, employment of women self-help groups, training programmes on

eliminate illiteracy and poverty, and the mid-day meal programme aims to
counter both these issues.
It is the continuous effort of this organisation to reach out to as many children
