The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an Indian NGO headquartered in Bengaluru that implements the Government of India's Mid-Day Meal Scheme, providing nutritious meals to school-going children since 2000. It is currently the world's largest NGO-run school lunch program, feeding over 1.7 million children in nearly 15,000 schools across 12 states. Its vision is for no child in India to be deprived of education due to hunger, and its mission is to feed 5 million children by 2020.
