TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Mr Akbar Karamihafshejani was a student of mine in the course “Ergonomics for
Manufacturing Systems” at Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in the fall semester of 2014. The
60 hour course is held within the Master Degree of Automotive Engineering. The exam
consists of both a written and an oral test.
Akbar aimed at a very good mark and prepared for the exam with care and great effort.
Both during the course and the final exam, I found Akbar inquisitive and hardworking. He
was active in class and good at working with others and had no problem integrating in a
quite heterogeneous class in geographic origin and education.
In 2015 Akbar was part of the student team that was awarded a 43.000 euro grant within
the FCA-Politecnico call for proposal on student projects and research innovation. I was
one of the three academic advisers for the team, together with my colleagues Andrea
Tonoli, professor of Car Body Design and Aerodynamics, and Nicola Amati, professor of
Chassis Design.
The project “Design of vibration isolation system in the low excitation region for vehicle
seat to reduce discomfort” included state of the art review, thorough analysis of pros and
cons of potential solutions, identification of the most promising solution, analysis of
dynamic performance and virtual modelling by means of Simulink/Matlab, construction of
a physical prototype and experimental testing.
Throughout the year, Akbar and the other five team members have been working very hard
to carry out the different activities and were able to successfully meet the project deadlines.
Both the academic and industrial tutors appreciated the team commitment and work ethic
and were positively impressed by the results the team was able to achieve.
I know Akbar wishes to continue the experience of combining the academic and industrial
worlds through an internship and the development of his Master thesis. Akbar has a keen
interest in his work and the automotive industry and I recommend him warmly.
Best Regards
