For 'What Lies Within'

2.  EXT.
 Location: Garden
 Time of Day: Morning/Day
 Our first scene begins with an establishing shot of sunrise (Break of dawn).
 The camera will gradually zoom out and a high angle shot of this footage will be
taken
 After the camera zoom out, it will pan around the garden for approx. 10 sec.
before tilting downwards to unveil the 2nd scene
 This scene will start w/ the previous use of tilt from the skyline. –Camera
movements e.g. zoom out will be used to reveal a tidy garden
 The camera will then slowly and steadily pan around the garden, before
tracking/zooming in towards the ext. of the window pane of the kitchen.

3.  INT.
 Location: Kitchen
 Time of Day: Day
 Using continuity editing (through the merging of the kitchen window), the camera
will zoom out to reveal the kitchen interior
 The next shot will be of the protagonist on her hands and knees cleaning,
demonstrating her obvious obsessive compulsive disorder through the use
framing & composition. –incorporating a high angle shot
 The camera then cuts rapidly to a close up/straight on angle of her hands,
scrubbing the floor rigorously
 Fast paced editing will be used to cut between the time displayed on the kitchen
clock and then back to the protagonist cleaning. Following a transition of a
dissolve, the female character drops the scrubbing brush into the bucket of water
at her side and this will lead to a match on action shot of her opening a wine
bottle that is popping and overflows on the floor

4.  INT.
 Location: Living Room
 Time of Day: Day
 This scene will carry on with a graphic match from the previous scene. The
primary focus of this scene is to present the character relaxing and taking a
break from her persistent cleaning
 After the shot that portrays her lighting a candle, she starts watching TV (How To
Get Away With Murder), which will be revealed in a POV shot, where a sting
reiterated
 While the protagonist is relaxing, the camera will pan across the living room
rooms, showcasing certificates and pictures to reveal more about herself
 The character will then accidentally spill wine on the cream carpet – immediately
her attention is diverted from relaxing & watching TV to cleaning up the mess

5.  INT.
 Location: Kitchen
 Time of Day: Day
 Scene starts with a match on action of the character, entering the kitchen
 Here she begins to search for cleaning products in her kitchen cupboard. An invincible edit will be
used and the cupboard will be positioned in the cupboard to express a sense of urgency
 The scene will end with a match on action of her leaving the kitchen and returning back to the
living room.
 INT.
 Location: Living Room
 Time of Day: Day
 Match on action continues from previous scene
 Straight on angle will be used show the female protagonist spraying stain remover foam over the
spillage

6.  INT.
 Location: Bathroom
 Time of Day: Day
 This scene begins with a match on action of the protagonist reaching the
staircase, entering the bathroom door.
 Then an eye-line match will be used where she washes her hands, after throwing
a dirty cloth into the washing basket
 She washes her hands, but she ‘realises’ that her hands are covered in blood
 There will then be a graphic match of the water running down the plug hole of the
sink, which matches with the next image of the eye of her younger self possibly
with a tear running down her face.
 A dissolve will then be used and the scene will end with her walking out and
closing the front door with the camera behind her.

7.  EXT.
 Location: Supermarket
 Time of Day: Day
 The scene begins with the supermarket doors opening and her entering through them
whilst pushing a trolley.
 Framing and composition will be used to reinforce the element of structure and preciseness
concerning sufferers of OCD: whenever she walks down the aisles she is framed in the
centre
 INT.
 Location: Supermarket
 Time of Day: Night
 Dissolves will be used, in order to reiterate the passing of time as she spends a long time
wandering down the aisles of cleaning products e.g. bleaches carefully selecting her
products. The trolley will become more and more full and she will head towards the
checkout.

8.  EXT.
 Location: Supermarket
 Time of Day: Night
 This is a very short scene which shows her leaving the supermarket while carrying
shopping bags in either hand. A dissolve transition will then be used.
 INT.
 Location: Bathroom
 Time of Day: Night
 High angled tracking shot of the protagonist following blood splatters. Not too much will be
given away, the camera may crosscut from the camera washing to their bedroom in which
clothes of a male will be focused on
 Sounds such as stings may be used to increase tension.
 Motivated light source will be used (possibly a candle). An over the shoulder shot will be
used to finally reveal her face in the mirror.
 If the candle is being used as a light source, the protagonist will blow it to indicate the end
of the film
