 Global growth will pick up faster than previously expected in
the coming months as the Trump administration's planned tax
cuts and public spending fire up the U.S. economy, the OECD
said on Monday, revising up its forecasts.In its twice-yearly
Economic Outlook, the Organization for Economic Coopera-
tion and Development estimated global growth would acceler-
ate from 2.9 percent this year to 3.3 percent in 2017 and reach
3.6 percent in 2018.The Paris-based organization was slightly
more optimistic about the U.S. outlook, with a forecast for
growth next year of 2.3 percent, up from 2.1 percent in its last
set of estimates dating from September.
 Regulators should complete work on their new bank capital
rules without diluting them, otherwise it would be harder to
draw a line under the financial crisis, a global central banking
official said on Monday.Claudio Borio, head of the monetary
and economic department at the Bank for International Settle-
ments, a forum for central banks, said the balance sheets of
some lenders have still not been wiped clean of bad loans
nearly a decade after the financial crisis began.That crisis
prompted world leaders to introduce tougher bank capital re-
quirements, known as Basel III. Regulators will seek to com-
plete Basel III at a meeting of the 28-country Basel Commit-
tee, which sets the standard for global regulation, on Monday
and Tuesday in Chile.
COMMODITY BUZZ
 Gold prices inched up in Asia on Tuesday with the dollar in fo-
cus as it mildly retraces sharp gains in the past month on the
suprise win of U.S. president-elect Donald Trump and wide-
spread expectations for a Fed rate hike in December.Gold for
December delivery rose 0.10% to $1,192.00 a troy ounce on the
Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. As
well, silver futures gained 0.29% to $16.723 atroy ounce,
while copper futures jumped 0.49% to $2.672 a
pound.Overnight, gold prices rose more than 1% on Monday,
rebounding from nine-and-a-half month lows as the dollar re-
versed some of its post U.S. election gains after surging to al-
most 14-year highs last week.
 Crude prices drifted lower in ASia on Tuesday as wrangling by
OPEC members over the details of a proposed output curb con-
tinues.U.S. crude oil fell 0.38% to $46.90 a barrel on the New
York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark Brent futures
were last quoted at $49.01 a barrel.Late on Monday experts
from OPEC nations failed to reach a compromise on the details
to curb output by country, Reuters said, setting up a bleak out-
look for a final deal when a full meeting starts on Nov. 30. As
well, Algerian and Venezuelan oil ministers traveled to Moscow
on Monday in a final attempt to persuade Russia to take part in
cuts instead of merely freezing output.
