2. Barbara Kruger, “ Worth every penny”, animal testing.
The photograph used presents a monkey/chimpanzee with
its mouth wide open, it might indicate that the monkey is in
distress or is being hurt. I think this photo is really effective
and crucial to this design - it makes the audience think of
animal testing straight away. Kruger mainly uses red as a
statement colour throughout her pieces, as it makes text
stand out. The contrast between the photograph and text
makes this piece easily recognizable as Barbara’s work.
Slogan “Worth every penny” refers to animal testing and its
cost; money as well as innocent lives. This message relates
to today’s society quite well, a majority of companies still
test their products on animals and it’s a global problem we
all have to deal with.
3. This piece is mainly focused
on gender equality, the
slogan “We don’t need
another hero” sided with an
illustration of two girls
together (Rosie the Riveter),
which is known all around for
the feminist undertone to
every artwork it’s included in.
Like every other piece
created by Barbara Kruger,
it’s colour scheme stays the
same therefore easily
recognisable as her work.

equality.
4. Barbara Kruger, “Make my day” “Roy toy”, animal testing.
This is yet another piece created by Barbara Kruger that refers to
animal testing issue, the photographs she uses are quite explicit
in their own way - presenting an animal that’s suffering due to
animal testing for our own benefit.
