Microsoft: Trailing in the Innovation Race?
At present we are living in the technological revolution, companies have to take a new
direction of innovation to be a vital part of the organization and its efforts to make its
services or products applicable to the market. The Microsoft case study focuses on
the steps and applications you have taken towards innovation.
Microsoft rode the wave of PCs into consumers’ homes, and still sells a copy of its
software with virtually every one of the millions of PCs sold every year. Office and
Windows, its core products, have become standards for must consumers, and the
popularity of Windows has led to both American and European courts declaring
Microsoft’s operating-system business an illegal monopoly.
Microsoft’s dominance in the PC market led to players in other markets taking
defensive measures to prevent he company from becoming competitor.
13. Q1 How the new entrepreneurial imperative has affected Microsoft
The new necessity of leadership places importance on entrepreneurship, which contributes to the making
of sustainable and innovative products and services. This was mainly due to the need to adopt
entrepreneurial innovation in an attempt to achieve organizational success. Microsoft is not left in relation
to this concept.
So, Microsoft has strategically positioned itself in the market in terms of innovation. This has led the
company to employ multiple staff such as psychologists, computer scientists and mathematicians to
support innovation by looking for new ideas that can be integrated into Microsoft’s products and services.

14. Q2 Applying the organizational life cycle on Microsoft today
Each organization is at a specific stage in its life cycle such as birth, growth, maturity, descent or death.
Regarding to Microsoft, Microsoft is in the maturity stage. The company recorded tremendous growth in its
early years but remained somewhat stagnant in the same way it was before. Although these purchases draw
impressive sales levels, they cannot be compared to their initial levels.
Q3 Specific actions indicating that Microsoft is trying to exhibit corporate entrepreneurship
Microsoft has introduced a new system called BizSpark that Microsoft buys startups that are no more than two
years old and with revenues of less than $ 1,000,000. In this case, these start-up companies are provided
access to Microsoft tools, technologies, and free services. So, these small businesses become part of Microsoft
and with the available resources provided you can create products or services that can complement Microsoft’s
suite of products and services. Also, Microsoft has invested heavily in research and development to see that it
focuses on the creation
