On April 29th this year, the GLA in partnership with DCMS and Royal Parks ran two major
public events, one in Hyde Park and one in Trafalgar Square in celebration of the Royal
wedding, the events were centred around large screenings of the event.
This was a costly event and required some commercial support but this was restricted. It
would not have been appropriate to have these events sponsored. We engaged with VSM
who proposed an approach of selling advertising space on the screens.
The event was staged at very short notice, much of the detail was not finalised until very close
to the actual event date and there were many critical stakeholders: DCMS, Westminster City
Council, Royal Parks, The Mayors Office, Jack Morton Worldwide and the BBC.
Despite the complexities, VSM picked up the brief and in a very short space of time secured
as significant amount of commercial revenue from relevant and appropriate advertisers.
We were impressed with the revenue raised, their ability to navigate the path of commercial
need and sensitivity to the event and the stakeholders and their flexibility when requirements /
details changed.
We would recommend VSM and would work with them again in the future.
