Project objectives:
- To contribute towards the early recovery of
people in flood/Earth Quake affected areas
through rehabilitation of communal physical
infrastructure and provisionor improvement of
the skills of the local population.
- To improve food security condition of the
targeted community.
- To Improve Livelihood opportunities for the
targeted people.
- To better prepare the communityto cope with
disasters
- To address food consumption needs of the
targeted people.
- To Provide short-term employment to the
targeted population
- To build/improve the Capacityof communities
through CashFor Training (Community Based
Disaster Risk Reduction, Enterprises
development, Livestock Management and
School Safety).
- To support the most vulnerable families
(widowedhouseholds;female-headedfamilies;
families with more children and elderly
members;disabledindividuals; and orphans)
through unconditional Cash assistance.
Project Brief
PROJECT BACK GROUND
The project titled as “Cash for Work to Flood and EQ affected
communities in Chitral” aims to support the early recovery
activities in Chitral by supporting 6,784 households with cash for
work for the period of three months in flood and earth quake
affected UCs like Charun, Laspur, Mastuj, Mulkhow, Koh and
Ashirate who have been highly affected during the two disasters.
During the project life 6,784 families will be supported through
two times cash from the World Food Programme and AKRSP will
be responsible for the implementation of the project in the
selected UCs. AKRSP will identify projects and beneficiaries for
the cash for work support through its LSOs and V/WOs while the
field team of the project will verify and register the beneficiaries
for the project. After the identification and verification by field
team of AKRSP the communities will be supported through cash
from WFP with the facilitation of AKRSP. 3900 affected
households of the floods and 3100 households of the earth
quake affected households will gets supported by two times cash
transfer during the process.
Women Participation in Project activities: ensuring women participation inproject activities keeping in viewcultural values ofthe target communitya separate training package has been design
for the women. The training package involved basi c concepts on Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction applications and its implications if not followed.

Participants Selection Criteria:
I. Those households from the disaster affected villages working on restoration of community roads, bridges, paths and irrigation channels within the village. Those
working on the village (one person from one household) will get two times cash support.
II. Those disaster affected households removing debris from the damaged houses by themselves, removal of debris from community places or labour work on these
places. Also, removal of debris from personnel business places and repair of the damaged boundary walls of garden and orchard s by recent floods will be included in
the cash for work support.
III. Those households who haven’t received any other benefit from aid agencies and who are in critical condition will be focused.
IV. Vulnerable groups and those who are not even able to do labour work, with a recommendation of the committee (formed at village levels for progress monitoring
includes members of local communities, V/WOs, AKRSP and FOCUS). The vulnerable group includes women and child headed households, people with special needs
and ultra-poor within the affected villages.
