REPORT: During an internal audit of corporate equipment, it was noted that the laptop in question was
missing from inventory. The theft was reported to Absolute investigators and the laptop connected to
the Internet soon after. The data collected on the device showed it moving between several locations
associated with the suspected users. Within the timeframe of the investigation, a second laptop from
the inventory group was reported missing and was linked to the same suspected user. Despite
inaccurate residential records and the disconnection of the first laptop, investigators stayed on the case
and were able to locate and recover both devices.
The partnership between local authorities and the Absolute Investigations and Recovery Services
Team proved invaluable in recovering this stolen laptop.
