The document summarizes the author's expectations and experiences visiting several cultural venues and institutions. At the Nettie Horn Gallery, the author found the space much smaller than expected with few art displays. In contrast, the Museum of Childhood met the author's expectations of being large with many exhibits about children's history. The author enjoyed visits to University of Birbeck, Rich Mix, and Bangla TV as they learned about various media careers. While the Voice of Africa Radio Station was smaller than anticipated, the author still found the visit educational and enjoyable.
1. My expectations/Review for Visits/Venues
Nettie Horn and Museum of Childhood
Nettie Horn- When we go and visit Nettie Horn Gallery I expect to see big display of art work and unique work. I expect the gallery to be big itself because gallery display different type of art work and therefore it need a big place for it.
What I expected from the Nettie Horn gallery was not I saw. The Nettie Horn Gallery itself was very small, there was some few art work display which was interesting but there wasn’t a lot of display as I hoped for. I think that the trip to the Nettie Horn was a waste of our time because we didn’t learn useful information we only saw displays and the people who worked there only talk about when they stated the gallery.
Museum of Childhood- I expect the museum of childhood to be big with display of childhood.
What I expected from the museum of childhood was exactly what I got. There was a lot of display about children’s and their childhood. There was toys and everything to do with children’s. The museum itself was big it was about 2 floors.
Nettie Horn and Museum of childhood- The difference between the two galleries is that the Nettie Horn gallery sell or display artwork for local artists, the museum of childhood display childhood and how it developed overtime.
University of Birbeck- When we visit this university, we went to meet and interview the professional people in the Creative and Media industry and to learn about their jobs.
I enjoyed the visit because I have learnt so much about the jobs (notes on blog 1.1) and it makes me even more interested in the Creative and Media industry. Their jobs was very interesting (BBC industry, ITV, Channel 40)
Rich Mix- To be educated and understand the purpose of the music video. To understand the range of job opportunities that is in the industry.
I enjoyed myself thoroughly as I have learnt valuable skills and knowledge about the music video and the performance (Notes 1.1 Rich Mix).
Bangla TV- i expect Bangla TV to be a big organisation, I expect to see big studio with latest technology.
When we visit Bangla TV, all my expectation wasn’t seen but I saw good technology which was a good experience.
What I learnt when we visited Bangla TV (1.1 Bangla TV visit). Bangla TV WAS THE FIRST Bengali TV in the community. They entertain their audience with sometimes live performance such as singing and dancing, also they play Bengali movie. Bangla TV also does direct news from Bangladesh for their audience. They have two studios in Bangladesh and they are with contact with them directly. Bangla TV also does apprentice. It is also known that Bangla TV is the first Bengali TV to be broadcast in England.
Voice of Africa Radio Station- I expect the radio station to be big with latest technology.
When we visit the radio station, what I expected wasn’t what I saw but nevertheless the overall trip was amazing and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I have notes about the visit of Voice of Africa Radio Station on -1.1 Voice of Africa Visit.
