4. USER’S THOUGHTS
“I'm interested in the idea of using a noise
map to choose where to stay without
compromising with other parameters
(proximity of attractions, evening
entertainment etc.)” -Peter, Erasmus Student
• “I usually look for less noisy areas when I
want to study outdoors or to have a picnic
or family get-together...’’ (Akhil, student)
6. A NOISE MONITORING APP
The ‘WHO’ states that in the EU 9 of 10 citizens are
exposed to a noise above 65 decibels, considered the
standard level of noise tolerance
In Italy is measured that 40 million of citizens are daily
subject to high levels of noise.
According to the study ’’Coping with noise’’
commissioned in 2016 by Amplifon, Rome is the 2nd
noisiest city in Italy and the 14th in the world
7. OUR MOTIVE
• Provide a noise map for the city of Rome
• Allow tourists to choose their
accommodation based on their preferences
of more or less noisy areas
• Indicate noise levels caused by ongoing
events
• Report statistics to the user about noise
levels
9. CURRENT STATUS
• As you already know that we have
created the App which monitors the
noise and connects with IBM Watson
IOT Cloud.
• ITS TIME TO TAKE IT AHEAD WITH NEW
UPDATES.
11. NOISE CANCELLATION
HEADGEARS
• Noise-cancelling headphones are headphones that
reduce unwanted ambient sounds using active noise
control. This is distinct from passive headphones
which, if they reduce ambient sounds at all, use
techniques such as soundproofing.
• Noise cancellation makes it possible to listen to audio
content without raising the volume excessively. It can
also help a passenger sleep in a noisy vehicle such as
an airliner. In the aviation environment, noise-
cancelling headphones increase the signal-to-noise
ratio significantly more than passive noise attenuating
headphones or no headphones, making hearing
important information such as safety announcements
easier.
• Noise-cancelling headphones can improve listening
enough to completely offset the effect of a distracting
concurrent activity.
