2.  The forest and tree cover in state of Uttar Pradesh is
around 9.26% which is much below the national average
of 23.4% (Rupak De).
 Ecological stability
 Important for women - Fuel, wood, fodder and other
forest produce
 Income generation for women through forest nursery-
Fuel , grass medicinal plants and seeds & wood.
 The Social Forestry Department has been working in
raising nurseries to supply the required quality of
planting material.

3. Employment for women :
 Nursery supervisors found women to be more efficient and
patient while performing the tedious task of nurseries.
 Nursery is a place where the seedlings, cutting and grafts
are raised with proper care before transplanting.
 The forestry sector hires women for raising nursery which
helps them gain employment leading to income generation.
 Uneducated women get a chance for job option.
Objectives:
 To study the involvement of women in different nursery
related activities.
 To study the problems encountered by women involved in
nursery work.

7.  Burning sensation & fungal infection due to direct touch with mud,
manure filling mud to bags or weeding transplanting and seedling
pricking.
 Back-ache due to grading and shifting of bags, filling, seedling
pricking and transplanting In weeding, watering of plants, hoeing
grading and shifting of bags needed bend posture which bring pain to
the body.
 Shoulder ache occurrence of MSD is associated to work posture.
 Breathlessness lifting twisting motions are injurious to back and joints
Misusing the body while working the whole day gives stress on the
muscular and skeletal systems which causes discomfort and injury.

8.  The work performance strategies have to be changed
by the employer for his women employees.
