Air Cargo Agents Association of
India (ACAAI), the only national
association of international air freight
forwarders, has finalised the date
and destination of its much awaited
annual convention.The 42nd
conven-
tion is scheduled from December 16-
19, 2015 at Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
“Indian Council of General, Ho Chi
Minh City and Vietnam Freight
Forwarding Association have also
extended support for our convention.
As yet, we have not decided the theme
of the 42nd convention, but it will
cover all the aspects of the trade,
be it IT, HR, challenges currently
freight forwarders are facing, changing
policy of the Government and civil
aviation policy, to name a few,”
says Sunil Arora, Convention
Chairman, ACAAI.
“I am expecting much more
participation this time as compared
to Shanghai because Shanghai is a
business city, which most of the trade
people had visited earlier.But Ho Chi
Minh is a new place for the trade
fraternity,” he adds.
What does ACAAI take into con-
sideration when deciding the destina-
tion? Arora shares, “It should be in the
Asia Pacific region and more important
an upcoming business region. The
rapid growth of Vietnam’s export-ori-
ented manufacturing sector has boost-
ed demand for logistics services.”
“Vietnam is a growing
economy; it is has come up
with sound infrastructure in a short
time. The country was liberated
in 1975 and in just 40 years the
economy has shot up. We need
to learn something from Vietnam,”
says Arora.
With an aim to explore trade opportunities withVietnam, the ACAAI committee has decided
to convene at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in December. Sunil Arora, Convention Chairman,
ACAAI, discusses with CARGOTALK what it takes to organise a convention in Vietnam.
